I read Jenifer's post from yesterday, and now I am in a little bit of a funk (warning: if you read it, you will be in one too. Then again, read this entry, and you are likely to be a little down). I was all excited to get cited for talking about her parking karma, but then I read on.
Among other sad things, she mentions a blogger from Boulder who recently passed away at the rather young age of 44, KeLee. I never knew KeLee, nor did I read her blog until today. Her last entry, from about six weeks ago, is about going into surgery.
Reading this was a bit freaky for me because I just found out yesterday for sure that I will have to have surgery again - probably this summer. The first time I had surgery, I wasn't too bothered by it in advance, because I was told that the procedure was relatively routine and non-invasive. However, this time I know more about what is involved and how risky it really can be, and I will be having an experimental procedure at a facility far away from home in another state. Needless to say, it is unsettling today to read a blog whose final entry is an annoncement of surgery.
Well, let me try to lighten the mood a bit by posting some status pictures for the VIB project. I have been working on this hat with earflaps, with mittens, from Knitting for Baby. The yarn is one of my absolute favorites, Manos del Uruguay. All the pieces are there. I just need to attach the earflaps to the hat, add elastic to the mittens to keep them on, and weave in the ends.
The really exciting thing about this project is that it was the first time I knitted in the round on double-pointed needles. I had knitted in the round before (on circulars), and I had knitted on double-pointeds (to make I-cord, for example), but this is the first time I had done both at once. It was surprisingly fun. Maybe there is a sock knitter in me, after all.
I am looking forward to a weekend of knitting and relaxing after a week of feeling miserable. So, in that spirit, I leave you with a picture of Perry, looking very sage (well, more like squinting because of the flash):
