getting needled

As you may notice by taking a look to the left, I have now updated my Works in Progress list, complete with thumbnails.  (If you think I'm procrastinating, well, you'd be right.)  I have only included works in progress from the VIB project, since all other knitting is on hold.

For those of you who don't already know or couldn't figure this out, I am going to be an aunt for the first time!!!!  I was made to promise that I will spoil all future nieces and nephews with equal amounts of knitting, so that no one feels left out by my extraordinary knitting frenzy.  Needless to say, I am hoping that no one else decides to reproduce anytime soon.  I will likely need a long knitting recovery period after this project is done.

You can see that I haven't made all that much progress.  A few of the projects to the left that are at 0% are projects for which I am still waiting on yarn.  I ordered a lot of Lamb's Pride a while back, and I am beginning to think that I will never get it, or at least not in time.  But no matter, since I obviously have a lot of other knitting on my plate.  I counted 32 items in the list (not counting mittens and booties twice, which I will do if I become desperate).

Then there's the diaper bag project.  I started it, as you can see:

Anyhow, I realized after almost having completed the first chunk that *I didn't have the right gauge* - and by a lot.  Now, what possessed me to not do a gauge swatch?  I'm sure all you knitters out there always do gauge swatches, right?  Well, let's just say it slipped my mind.  Anyhow, size 10 1/2 needles aren't cutting it for this bag.  But the next size up that I own are 13s.  So I need to go shopping.  The only thing that makes me feel better is knowing that after I frog this, I get to knit it again with *larger* needles, which means it should go faster, right?

Let's hope so, since I am clearly falling behind in the VIB project.
