Despite my deep desire to slack, I did manage to get some cleaning done on Saturday. In particular, I'd like to brag about my porch. I am not sure if it will come across very well from these pictures, but on Saturday morning, my porch was very dirty, not set up for human use, and "decorated" with the remains of plants that were last happy sometime in 2004. Look for yourself:

(Ignore the green things growing *outside* of the porch. Focus on the stringy remains of petunias and pansies struggling to escape the hanging planter. Notice the sad table, abandoned with no chairs.)

(here take note not of the beautiful flatirons or the lush, downstairs yard. Instead, note the barren window boxes.)
(Ah... a lovely close-up view of the sad planter, and the chairs stacked up in the corner for the winter. Looks inviting, doesn't it?)
(Here you can really get a sense of how apathetic I had become about the porch: flower pots tipped over on their sides, leaves piled in a corner for months. The only green in this shot is a pot of mint - which will never die, so I couldn't kill it.)
Anyhow - I got busy planting and sweeping, and this is the happy result:
Look! Miraculously, an umbrella has appeared from nowhere (well, really from the ugly boxes it was stored in in my living room - very charming decorative effect, let me tell you!)! There are flowers and live herbs in the window boxes. And there are happy chairs set up around the table. Don't you want to have a seat?
Another happy view of flowers...
Well, it hasn't totally transformed, but you might notice the cheerful pansies in the hanging basket. (kindly ignore the mess inside the apartment...)
Ahh... here's a lovely view of the new flowers and herbs, happily green.
Needless to say, not much knitting happened this weekend. However, I do now have status bars on the side menu. I'll try to knit more tonight.
